Getting enough calcium does not necessarily mean cooking calcium-rich meals from scratch.
Many practical calcium sources are foods and drinks you can:
- Pick up from a supermarket
- Keep in the refrigerator
- Carry to work
- Drink directly from the carton
- Eat as a quick breakfast or snack
- Add to another meal without cooking
- Buy when you simply do not feel like preparing food
Milk may be the first food that comes to mind, but calcium can also come from yogurt, fortified plant-based drinks, cheese, canned sardines with edible bones and other fortified foods.
In this guide, we compare 30 calcium-rich food and drink choices available in Malaysia from more than 10 brands.
The main focus is:
Calcium per serving
We also compare:
- Percentage of the Calcium Daily Value
- Calories
- Protein where available
- Approximate 2026 Malaysia price
- Calcium per 100 calories
- Approximate cost per 300 mg calcium
Other nutrients such as vitamin D, sugar, fat and sodium are discussed where they help explain the nutritional differences between products.
The goal is not to identify one universally “best” calcium food.
It is to answer a practical question:
If you do not want to cook, what can you easily buy in Malaysia to get more calcium?
Important: Nutrition values, formulations, package sizes and prices can change. Malaysia-specific manufacturer information is used whenever available. Some regional or laboratory references are clearly identified where a current Malaysian manufacturer page confirms the product but does not publish the complete numerical nutrition panel.
Quick Answer
Here are some of the most interesting results.
| Priority | Choice | Calcium |
|---|---|---|
| Highest calcium per selected serving | Anlene Gold 5X | 600 mg |
| High calcium + highest protein among Anlene selections | Anlene Total 10 | 600 mg + 12 g protein |
| Strong lower-calorie high-calcium milk powder | Anlene Actifit 3X Plain | 500 mg / 129 kcal |
| High-calcium ready-to-drink dairy | MARIGOLD HL Plain | ~400 mg / 200 ml |
| Calcium-rich regular milk | Magnolia Full Cream Milk | ~390 mg / 250 ml |
| High-calcium low-calorie plant drink | So Good Almond Milk Original | 300 mg / 74 kcal |
| Yogurt drink with high calcium | Fernleaf Greek Style Yogurt Drink | 300 mg / ~59–63 kcal |
| Calcium + protein from fish | Ayam Brand Sardines | ~306 mg / can reference |
| Calcium-rich cheese option | Perfect Italiano Parmesan | ~285 mg / 30 g |
| Plant-based oat option | OATSIDE Barista Blend | ~294 mg / 300 ml |
These options are not nutritionally equivalent.
A fortified milk powder, a glass of fresh milk, a yogurt drink, parmesan cheese and sardines all deliver calcium in very different food packages.
What Counts as Calcium-Rich in This Guide?
For consistency, we use the U.S. FDA Calcium Daily Value of:
1,300 mg per day
as a standardized label comparison.
The FDA generally considers:
- 5% DV or less low
- 20% DV or more high
Twenty percent of 1,300 mg is:
260 mg calcium.
So most foods selected for this guide provide approximately 260 mg calcium or more per listed serving or reference portion.
This does not mean every adult personally needs 1,300 mg calcium every day.
The Daily Value is a nutrition-label reference.
For comparison, the NIH Recommended Dietary Allowance for calcium is:
- Adults 19–50: 1,000 mg/day
- Men 51–70: 1,000 mg/day
- Women 51–70: 1,200 mg/day
- Adults 71+: 1,200 mg/day
The RDA and Daily Value therefore serve different purposes.
Why Does Your Body Need Calcium?
Calcium is the most abundant mineral in the human body.
Almost all of it is stored in bones and teeth, but calcium is not only a “bone nutrient.”
Your body also needs calcium for functions including:
- Muscle contraction
- Nerve signalling
- Blood-vessel function
- Hormone release
Vitamin D also helps the body absorb calcium.
That is why you will notice that many fortified calcium products in Malaysia also contain vitamin D.
How We Compared the 30 Choices
Calcium per Serving
This is the primary measurement.
It answers:
How much calcium do I actually get from the amount listed?
% Daily Value
We calculate:
Calcium ÷ 1,300 mg × 100
For example:
600 mg calcium
÷ 1,300 mg
× 100
= approximately 46% DV
Calories
Calories help show the energy that comes with the calcium.
For example:
300 mg calcium from a 60-calorie yogurt drink
and:
300 mg calcium from a 150-calorie glass of milk
provide the same calcium amount but different nutritional packages.
Protein
Protein is useful supplementary information because many dairy foods naturally provide both calcium and protein.
However, protein is not the ranking criterion in this article.
Calcium per 100 Calories
We calculate:
Calcium ÷ calories × 100
This allows us to compare calcium concentration relative to energy intake.
Cost per 300 mg Calcium
We also use:
Price ÷ calcium × 300
Why 300 mg?
Because 300 mg is close to the amount of calcium found in many typical servings of milk or fortified drinks and gives us an easy standardized comparison.
It is only a comparison unit.
It is not a recommendation that every meal must contain exactly 300 mg calcium.
30 Calcium-Rich Food Choices in Malaysia
The table is broadly ranked by calcium per listed serving.
P = published Malaysia-specific manufacturer/laboratory nutrition data.

*Ayam Brand publishes approximately 153 mg calcium per 70 g serving for the referenced sardine product; the whole-can comparison represents approximately two listed servings.
Anlene’s current Malaysian product pages publish 600 mg calcium per serving for Gold 5X, CholestoPro and Total 10, while Actifit 3X provides 500 mg. The pages also publish calories, protein, sugars and vitamin D.
Fernleaf Malaysia publishes 300 mg calcium per 200 g Greek Style Yogurt Drink and 264 mg in a 110 g serving of its regular yogurt. Dutch Lady’s Malaysia nutrition information lists 300–350 mg calcium for the selected prepared milk-powder servings.
Farm Fresh publishes 284.3 mg calcium per 100 ml reference for its Mulberries & Strawberries Greek Yogurt, 115 mg per 100 ml for Fruit Punch Yogurt Drink, and 122 mg per 100 ml for UHT Fresh Milk.
Price Note: Prices are approximate September 2026 Malaysia retail reference prices. For products sold in larger packs, the table estimates the cost of the listed serving rather than the cost of the entire pack. Retailer, state, promotion, pack size and ordering channel can change the actual price.
Which Choice Provides the Most Calcium per Serving?
The highest-calcium products in the selected comparison are several Anlene powdered drinks.
Anlene Gold 5X
A 40 g serving of the Plain version provides:
600 mg calcium
148 calories
9.1 g protein
7.5 µg vitamin D
That is approximately:
46% of the 1,300 mg Calcium Daily Value.
The Dark Chocolate and Café Latte variants also publish 600 mg calcium per serving.
This is substantially more calcium per serving than an ordinary glass of milk because the product is specifically fortified.
Anlene CholestoPro
One 40 g serving also provides:
600 mg calcium
alongside:
- 153 kcal
- 6.9 g protein
- 7.5 µg vitamin D
The product contains other specifically formulated ingredients as well, but for this article the relevant point is simply that its calcium concentration is high.
Anlene Total 10
Total 10 provides:
600 mg calcium
208 kcal
12 g protein
7.5 µg vitamin D
It also publishes 3 g dietary fiber per serving.
So even though all three provide the same amount of calcium, their overall nutrition profiles are not identical.
Which Choice Gives the Most Calcium per 100 Calories?
This is where the ranking changes.
Some foods deliver calcium very efficiently relative to their calorie content.
Approximate examples include:
| Choice | Calcium | Calories | Calcium / 100 kcal |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fernleaf Greek Style Yogurt Drink Mango | 300 mg | 59 | ~508 mg |
| Fernleaf Greek Style Yogurt Drink Strawberry | 300 mg | 60 | ~500 mg |
| Fernleaf Greek Style Yogurt Drink Mixed Berries | 300 mg | 63 | ~476 mg |
| Anlene Gold 5X Café Latte | 600 mg | 141 | ~426 mg |
| Anlene Gold 5X Plain | 600 mg | 148 | ~405 mg |
| So Good Almond Milk Original | 300 mg | 74 | ~405 mg |
| MARIGOLD HL Plain | ~400 mg | ~100 | ~400 mg |
| Anlene CholestoPro | 600 mg | 153 | ~392 mg |
| Anlene Actifit 3X Plain | 500 mg | 129 | ~388 mg |
This does not mean the yogurt drink is automatically better than every other food.
It simply means it provides a high amount of calcium relative to its energy content.
Fernleaf Greek Style Yogurt Drink Is an Interesting Result
Fernleaf Malaysia publishes unusually high calcium relative to calories for its Greek Style Yogurt Drink.
Mango
59 kcal
300 mg calcium
1.8 g protein
11.0 g total sugar
4.6 µg vitamin D
Strawberry
60 kcal
300 mg calcium
1.8 g protein
11.6 g total sugar
4.6 µg vitamin D
Mixed Berries
approximately:
63 kcal
300 mg calcium
1.8 g protein
11.8 g total sugar
4.6 µg vitamin D
So these perform exceptionally well for calcium per calorie.
But if protein is also one of your priorities, regular milk or a higher-protein yogurt may fit differently.
Again:
same calcium does not mean same food.
Which Choices Combine Calcium and Protein?
Calcium and protein often appear together in dairy foods.
Some selected examples include:
| Food | Calcium | Protein |
|---|---|---|
| Anlene Total 10 | 600 mg | 12 g |
| Anlene Gold 5X Plain | 600 mg | 9.1 g |
| MARIGOLD HL Plain | ~400 mg | ~10 g |
| Magnolia Full Cream Milk | 390 mg | 8 g |
| Farm Fresh UHT Fresh Milk | ~305 mg | 8.5 g |
| Perfect Italiano Parmesan, 30 g | ~285 mg | ~9.8 g |
| Ayam Brand Sardines, whole-can reference | ~306 mg | ~23.6 g |
| Magnolia Fresh Milk, 250 ml | ~279 mg | ~8.8 g |
Sardines are particularly different from the rest.
They provide:
calcium + substantial protein
without being dairy.
The calcium comes largely from the soft edible bones.
NIH specifically lists canned sardines and salmon with bones among nondairy calcium sources.
Sardines Are a Very Different Calcium Food
Ayam Brand’s Malaysia nutrition information for Sardines in Tomato Sauce with Chilli provides approximately:
153 mg calcium per 70 g serving.
Using about two listed servings gives roughly:
306 mg calcium
and more than 20 g protein.
Current Malaysian retail references put the 155 g can around RM5–6.
This makes sardines useful for someone who wants calcium but does not necessarily want:
- Milk
- Yogurt
- Cheese
- Fortified plant milk
However, canned foods can also contain meaningful sodium, so calcium should not be the only number considered.
Cheese Can Pack Calcium Into a Small Portion
Parmesan is another very different example.
Perfect Italiano’s Malaysia professional nutrition information lists approximately:
950 mg calcium per 100 g
along with:
32.6 g protein per 100 g.
A 30 g portion therefore provides approximately:
285 mg calcium
9.8 g protein
~113 calories
Current Malaysian retail pricing for a 250 g block is around RM24–27, making 30 g approximately RM2.90–3.20.
The trade-off is that parmesan is concentrated cheese.
It can also contribute:
- Saturated fat
- Sodium
So high calcium density does not automatically mean unlimited portions are appropriate.
What About Regular Milk?
Fortified adult milk products dominate the top of the table because they are designed to contain more calcium.
But ordinary milk can still provide a substantial amount.
Magnolia Full Cream Milk
A Malaysian laboratory nutrition report lists approximately:
390 mg calcium / 250 ml
with:
155 kcal
8 g protein.
This is approximately:
30% DV
in one glass.
Current UHT Full Cream 1 L retail listings are around RM6–7, so a 250 ml serving costs roughly RM1.50–1.75.
Magnolia Fresh Milk
A Malaysia laboratory analysis lists:
111.4 mg calcium per 100 ml
and:
67 kcal / 3.5 g protein per 100 ml.
A 250 ml serving therefore provides approximately:
279 mg calcium
168 kcal
8.8 g protein.
Current 1 L retail references are around RM9.49, making 250 ml approximately RM2.37.
This also demonstrates that two products carrying the same broad label of “milk” do not necessarily contain exactly the same calcium concentration.
Milk Powder Can Be Very Cost-Efficient
Dutch Lady Malaysia publishes calcium information for its family milk powders.
Full Cream Milk Powder
A prepared 240 ml serving provides approximately:
300 mg calcium
148 kcal
6 g protein.
Instant Plain Milk Powder
A 235 ml prepared serving provides approximately:
350 mg calcium
142 kcal
3.9 g protein.
The official Malaysia page also lists other variants with around 300 mg calcium per prepared serving.
Current 900 g pack prices can be around the low-to-mid RM20 range depending on promotion, making the powder relatively inexpensive on a cost per 300 mg calcium basis.
The trade-off is convenience.
Powder requires:
- Water
- A cup
- Mixing
while UHT milk requires almost no preparation.
Which Choices Are Dairy-Free?
Calcium does not have to come from dairy.
That is an important part of this article.
Among our selected choices:
So Good Almond Milk Original
approximately:
300 mg calcium / 250 ml
74 kcal
1.4 g protein
The product is fortified with calcium and is dairy-free. Malaysia distributor information provides the 300 mg calcium value for a 250 ml serving.
OATSIDE Barista Blend
The Barista Blend contains:
98 mg calcium per 100 ml
from a formulation that includes calcium carbonate.
A 300 ml reference portion therefore provides approximately:
294 mg calcium.
The product is currently widely sold in Malaysia, with 1 L prices around roughly RM9–11 in September 2026 listings.
This is a good example of why plant drinks need to be checked individually.
You cannot assume:
almond milk = high calcium
or:
oat milk = high calcium.
It depends heavily on fortification.
Fortification Matters More Than the Plant Used
Two almond drinks can contain very different amounts of calcium.
Two oat drinks can too.
NIH notes that many milk substitutes are fortified with calcium, but the label needs to be checked because formulations vary.
So when buying plant-based milk, look for:
Calcium (mg)
or:
% Daily Value
rather than assuming every plant beverage is nutritionally equivalent to cow’s milk.
Which Choices Also Provide Vitamin D?
Vitamin D matters because it helps calcium absorption.
Several products in this guide deliberately combine the two nutrients.
Examples include:
Anlene Gold 5X Plain
600 mg calcium + 7.5 µg vitamin D
Anlene Actifit 3X Plain
500 mg calcium + 7.5 µg vitamin D
Anlene Total 10
600 mg calcium + 7.5 µg vitamin D
Fernleaf Greek Style Yogurt Drink
300 mg calcium + 4.6 µg vitamin D
Fernleaf Yogurt Plain
264 mg calcium + 0.8 µg vitamin D
Dutch Lady Full Cream Milk Powder
300 mg calcium + 1.5 µg vitamin D
This does not mean calcium foods must contain vitamin D to be useful.
It simply shows why fortified products often combine the two.
What If You Are Watching Sugar?
Calcium-rich products can differ substantially in sugar content.
Consider Anlene Gold 5X:
Plain
600 mg calcium
148 kcal
14.8 g total sugars
Dark Chocolate
600 mg calcium
148 kcal
16.2 g total sugars
Café Latte
600 mg calcium
141 kcal
13.2 g total sugars
All three provide the same calcium.
But their sugar profiles differ.
Likewise, Fernleaf’s Plain 110 g yogurt provides:
264 mg calcium
with approximately:
11.4 g total sugar, including naturally occurring lactose and added sucrose in the published formulation.
So the better question is not:
Does this contain calcium?
It is:
What else comes with that calcium?
Which Choices Give the Best Calcium Value for Money?
Using approximate September 2026 prices and standardizing to 300 mg calcium, several milk powders perform particularly well.
Approximate examples:
| Choice | Estimated Cost / 300 mg Calcium |
|---|---|
| Anlene Actifit 3X Plain | ~RM0.67 |
| Dutch Lady milk powders | ~RM0.75–0.90 |
| Anlene Actifit 3X Chocolate | ~RM0.90 |
| Anlene Gold 5X | ~RM0.95 |
| Anlene CholestoPro | ~RM1.10 |
| Magnolia Full Cream Milk | ~RM1.15–1.30 |
| MARIGOLD HL 200 ml | ~RM1.90 |
| Fernleaf 110 g Yogurt | ~RM1.70–2.20 |
| Farm Fresh UHT Fresh Milk | ~RM1.90–2.10 |
| So Good Almond Milk | ~RM3.50 |
Current September 2026 listings show Anlene Gold 5X 550 g around the mid-RM20 range, Actifit around RM20–30 depending on pack size, and CholestoPro 480 g around RM26.
This illustrates a useful difference between:
lowest cost per calcium
and:
most convenient product.
Milk powder is cheap per serving but requires preparation.
A small yogurt pot or UHT carton costs more per unit of calcium but can be opened and consumed immediately.
Is the Highest-Calcium Choice Automatically the Best?
No.
Imagine:
Choice A
600 mg calcium
150 calories
8 g protein
fortified vitamin D
Choice B
300 mg calcium
90 calories
4 g protein
yogurt cultures
Choice C
300 mg calcium
270 calories
24 g protein
fish + edible bones
Choice D
300 mg calcium
75 calories
plant-based fortified beverage
All provide meaningful calcium.
But they serve completely different purposes.
That is why this article does not create an:
Eat Ate Here Calcium Score
or declare one food the “healthiest.”
A single score would require arbitrary decisions about how much weight to give:
- Calcium
- Protein
- Calories
- Sugar
- Saturated fat
- Sodium
- Vitamin D
- Price
Showing the individual measurements is more transparent.
Calcium Content Is Not the Same as Calcium Absorption
This is one of the most important differences between Calcium and our Protein/Fiber guides.
A label tells you:
how much calcium the food contains.
It does not tell you exactly:
how much calcium your body will absorb.
NIH notes that absorption from dairy products and fortified foods averages around 30%, while absorption from some plant foods can be lower because compounds such as oxalates can bind calcium.
That does not mean plant foods are “bad.”
It means calcium nutrition has another layer:
bioavailability.
This is why our main What Is Calcium? guide explains calcium absorption and regulation in more detail.
For this practical shopping guide, the milligrams on the label remain the most useful comparison starting point.
Dairy-Free Does Not Mean Calcium-Free
People sometimes associate calcium exclusively with dairy.
But practical nondairy options include:
- Fortified almond drinks
- Fortified oat drinks
- Fortified soy drinks
- Calcium-set tofu
- Sardines with edible bones
- Some leafy vegetables
NIH specifically includes fortified milk substitutes, tofu, canned fish with bones and certain vegetables among nondairy calcium sources.
For someone avoiding dairy, the important word is often:
fortified.
What If You Want Around 300 mg Calcium?
This is one of the easiest ways to use the guide.
Options close to 300 mg include:
- Fernleaf Greek Style Yogurt Drink — 300 mg
- Dutch Lady Full Cream Milk Powder — 300 mg
- Dutch Lady Chocolate Milk Powder — 300 mg
- Dutch Lady Instant Honey Milk Powder — 300 mg
- So Good Almond Milk Original — 300 mg
- Farm Fresh UHT Fresh Milk — ~305 mg
- Ayam Brand Sardines — ~306 mg per whole-can reference
- OATSIDE Barista Blend — ~294 mg per 300 ml
- Perfect Italiano Parmesan — ~285 mg per 30 g
- Farm Fresh Yogurt Drink — ~288 mg per 250 ml reference
- Magnolia Fresh Milk — ~279 mg per 250 ml
These foods all arrive at roughly the same calcium level through completely different routes.
That makes 300 mg a useful comparison unit.
What If You Want About 500–600 mg Calcium?
Some fortified products make this relatively easy.
Examples include:
Anlene Gold 5X
600 mg
Anlene CholestoPro
600 mg
Anlene Total 10
600 mg
Anlene Actifit 3X
500 mg
These amounts correspond to roughly:
38–46% of the FDA Daily Value
in one listed serving.
That does not mean more is always necessary.
Your overall calcium intake across the day is what matters.
Can You Get Calcium From Several Smaller Foods Instead?
Yes.
You do not need one product to provide 600 mg.
For example:
Fernleaf Yogurt
~264 mg
250 ml Farm Fresh Milk
~305 mg
=
~569 mg calcium
Or:
30 g Parmesan
~285 mg
250 ml fortified almond drink
300 mg
=
~585 mg
The point is not to follow these exact combinations.
It is to show that calcium accumulates across foods and meals.
What If You Do Not Want to Drink Milk?
You still have options.
Yogurt
Fernleaf and Farm Fresh products provide meaningful calcium.
Cheese
Parmesan is concentrated in calcium.
Sardines
The soft edible bones provide calcium.
Fortified Plant Drinks
So Good and OATSIDE can provide calcium without dairy.
This makes calcium intake much more flexible than:
“Drink milk or get no calcium.”
Which Calcium Choice Might Suit You?
| Your Priority | Choices to Consider |
|---|---|
| Highest calcium per serving | Anlene Gold 5X / CholestoPro / Total 10 |
| Lower-calorie high-calcium powder | Anlene Actifit 3X Plain |
| Calcium + higher protein | Anlene Total 10 / MARIGOLD HL |
| Regular milk | Magnolia / Farm Fresh |
| Yogurt | Fernleaf / Farm Fresh |
| Lower-calorie yogurt drink | Fernleaf Greek Style Yogurt Drink |
| Dairy-free | So Good Almond Milk / OATSIDE |
| Calcium + fish protein | Ayam Brand Sardines |
| Cheese | Perfect Italiano Parmesan |
| Lowest approximate calcium cost | Milk powders |
| Grab-and-go | Yogurt cups / UHT milk |
| Calcium + vitamin D | Anlene / Fernleaf / Dutch Lady fortified products |
A Better Way to Choose Calcium-Rich Foods
Instead of asking only:
Which product contains the most calcium?
ask several questions.
How Much Calcium Is in the Serving?
Start with the actual milligrams.
How Large Is the Serving?
A 600 mg calcium powder serving and a 300 mg yogurt serving are not the same amount or type of food.
Is It Fortified?
This is especially important for plant-based drinks.
Does It Also Provide Protein?
Milk, cheese and sardines can contribute meaningful protein.
Some plant drinks provide much less.
Is Vitamin D Included?
Fortified vitamin D may be useful because vitamin D supports calcium absorption.
What About Sugar?
Flavoured milk and yogurt may contain more sugar than plain alternatives.
What About Sodium and Saturated Fat?
This becomes particularly relevant with cheese and canned products.
How Much Does It Cost?
A nutritionally excellent product still needs to fit your budget and lifestyle.
What the Numbers Do Not Tell You
Even this detailed comparison has limitations.
Calcium Absorption Varies
Milligrams consumed and milligrams absorbed are not identical.
Product Formulations Change
Manufacturers can reformulate products.
Prices Change Frequently
Retailer, promotion and package size matter.
Regional Products Can Differ
Where a Malaysian manufacturer page does not expose a numerical panel, regional or laboratory references are identified rather than treated as guaranteed Malaysia-specific formulation data.
Serving Size Matters
Drinking 300 ml from a 1 L carton is different from consuming a single 200 ml pack.
Calcium Is Only One Nutrient
The rest of the food still matters.
The Most Important Thing to Remember
Calcium-rich food does not have to mean one thing.
You can get meaningful calcium from:
- Fortified adult milk
- Regular milk
- Yogurt
- Yogurt drinks
- Cheese
- Fortified almond drinks
- Fortified oat drinks
- Sardines with edible bones
The highest-calcium products in this comparison are fortified Anlene products at around 500–600 mg calcium per serving.
But other foods offer different advantages.
Fernleaf Greek Style Yogurt Drink provides around 300 mg calcium for relatively few calories.
Regular milk provides calcium together with protein.
Parmesan packs calcium into a small portion.
Sardines combine calcium with substantial protein.
Fortified plant drinks provide alternatives for people who do not use dairy.
So rather than asking:
“Which calcium food is best?”
ask:
How much calcium am I getting?
What else comes with it?
Does it fit my dietary preferences?
How convenient is it?
How much does it cost?
And remember:
calcium intake is built across the whole diet—not from finding one perfect product.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which Product Has the Most Calcium in This Comparison?
Several Anlene products provide approximately:
600 mg calcium per serving.
These include Gold 5X, CholestoPro and Total 10.
Is 300 mg Calcium a Lot?
Three hundred milligrams represents about:
23% of the FDA 1,300 mg Calcium Daily Value.
It also represents about 30% of the 1,000 mg RDA used for many adults.
Does Milk Contain More Calcium Than Yogurt?
Not necessarily.
It depends on the product and serving size.
For example, Fernleaf’s 110 g yogurt provides about 264 mg calcium, while its Greek Style Yogurt Drink provides 300 mg per 200 g serving.
Can Plant Milk Provide as Much Calcium as Cow’s Milk?
Some fortified plant drinks can.
So Good Almond Milk Original, for example, provides approximately 300 mg calcium per 250 ml reference serving.
But plant beverages vary substantially, so check the label rather than assuming all almond, soy or oat drinks contain the same amount.
Does Oat Milk Naturally Contain That Much Calcium?
Not necessarily.
OATSIDE Barista Blend contains added calcium carbonate.
Fortification contributes substantially to its calcium content.
Are Sardines a Calcium-Rich Food?
They can be, particularly when the soft bones are eaten.
NIH lists canned sardines with bones as a nondairy calcium source.
Is Cheese a Good Source of Calcium?
Many cheeses are calcium-rich.
Perfect Italiano Parmesan lists approximately 950 mg calcium per 100 g, although cheese can also contain meaningful saturated fat and sodium.
Does More Calcium Always Mean Better?
No.
Once calcium needs are met, simply choosing the product with the largest number is not automatically beneficial.
Your overall diet and total intake matter.
Why Is the Calcium Daily Value 1,300 mg if Many Adults Need 1,000 mg?
The Daily Value is a standardized reference used on Nutrition Facts labels.
The RDA is an age- and sex-specific dietary reference.
They are designed for different purposes, so the numbers do not need to be identical.
Do I Need a Calcium Supplement?
Not automatically.
Many people can obtain calcium from foods and fortified drinks.
Calcium supplements can also interact with some medications, and supplemental calcium should not automatically be treated as equivalent to simply adding more calcium-rich foods. People considering supplements for a specific health reason should discuss their needs with an appropriate healthcare professional.
How We Calculated the Numbers
Percentage Daily Value
Calcium %DV = calcium ÷ 1,300 mg × 100
Example:
600 ÷ 1,300 × 100
≈ 46% DV
Calcium per 100 Calories
Calcium per 100 calories = calcium ÷ calories × 100
Example:
Fernleaf Greek Style Yogurt Drink Mango:
300 ÷ 59 × 100
≈ 508 mg calcium per 100 calories
Cost per 300 mg Calcium
Cost per 300 mg calcium = serving price ÷ calcium × 300
Example:
If one serving costs RM2 and contains 600 mg calcium:
RM2 ÷ 600 × 300
= RM1 per 300 mg calcium
All calculated values are rounded and should be treated as practical comparisons rather than exact universal values.
